Biography

Suzanne Arms is the author/illustrator of seven books on pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and adoption. Her book on birth, titled Immaculate Deception (published in 1975), was named a Best Book of the Year by the New York Times. Her passion lies in the creation of non-violent, sustainable communities and societies. In 1978, she co-founded one of the first out-of-hospital birthing centres.

She is the founder and director of the nonprofit/charity Birthing The Future®, located in Colorado, USA. BTF focuses on the Birth and the Primal Period (the time from pre-conception to age one) and the mother-baby bond. During the Primal Period, lifelong patterns of fear and defence or love and trust are established in the baby’s developing brain and nervous system.

She advocates for a paradigm shift in how babies are brought into the world and how childbearing women and the critically important mother-baby bond, which starts before conception, are protected and supported. The Time Is Now is a global project of Birthing The Future. They create International Symposia and Roundtables, films, posters, bookmarks, pamphlets, and other inspiring educational materials.

Readers are invited to study her complimentary mini-course, a 6-part series called: The Human Attachment Project. To access, visit the on-demand courses page for this seminal content.
